Healing of a congenital syndrome of loss of protein (intestinal lymphangiectasis)

Raimund S. (14) from H.:

Christel S. (51) reports regarding the healing of her son, Raimund: [1]

We have had a hard time, but that is behind us now. Our son Raimund was born on 22.9.1983, and for five months everything went fine, as long as I was breast feeding him. But then it started: His eyelids were full of fluid, he had overmuch stool, which was white and bad smelling..

The doctor couldn't identify the problem, and he had to go to hospital. It was 12th March 1984. It was established that he was suffering from insufficient protein. It was not understood, however, how the protein was being lost. After three weeks of investigations it was discovered that Raimund had altered lymph glands in the intestine. As a result the protein was being lost. But the worst of it was that Raimund had practically no natural immunity to disease. It was so minimal, that the doctors were at a loss.

The hopelessness of the situation, as it was explained to me in the hospital in K. was devastating for me. They told me that my child would never be able to play like his brother. I would have to come to terms with the fact and lead my life accordingly.

Raimund was then transferred to the University hospital in G. The professor of the University hospital raised my hopes, but to the question: "Will my child really not ever be well again?", he gave me to understand, without any shadow of a doubt, that I could not count on a healing, he would have to eat a special diet his entire life in order to stay alive. I couldn't and wouldn't accept this, and hoped for a miracle.

An acquaintance to whom I had explained my desperation, without knowing that she was in the Bruno Groening group, tuned in with other friends to the healing stream, for me and my son without our knowing it.

And the result was that everything turned out entirely differently from how the doctors had prophesied, everything changed for the good.

The diet, which Raimund should have stuck to for his entire life I have replaced, bit by bit, since May 1984 with normal food. Since the end of 1984 he has eaten an entirely normal diet. In addition, against all the prognoses of the doctors, no other symptoms of disease have occurred.

When finally at the end of 1984 my acquaintance told me about the teachings of Bruno Groening, I requested straightaway that I be introduced, so that my son and I could convince ourselves personally of the truth of what was being said.

My child has now been entirely healthy for13 years. He plays perfectly normally with his brother, and eats everything.

At all the subsequent check-ups in the following years I at first was silent about the fact that Raimund didn't eat a special diet any more. Despite this, the protein and immune system values rose and remained in the normal range. When I finally found the courage to tell the doctors that I wasn't sticking to the diet any more, they couldn't comprehend that Raimund, despite all their predictions is now totally fit.

Words can't describe the gratitude that my husband and I feel for this enormous gift. Raimund was always as pale as chalk. There was no shine in his eyes. And now he is radiant, he has rosy cheeks, and he is at least his brother's equal in everything.

Physicians Comment:

By means of a biopsy of the small intestine (tissue removal from the small intestine) the diagnosis "intestinal lymphangiectasis" was established in the 6 month old Raimund S. [2]. This condition is characterised by severe loss of protein through the intestine, a reduced level of protein in the blood, fluid retention in the tissue (oedema) and a reduced level of lymphocytes and immunoglobulin (proteins responsible for resistance against disease attack) in the blood. Morphologically a congenital malformation of the lymphatic system of the intestine is the root cause. The laboratory values of April 1984 clearly show the severe and threatening condition the child had reached as a result of this disease. The total protein was severely reduced with 2.6 g/dl [3] (normal 7 - 8 g/dl), similarly the immunglobulin G (IgG) with 34,1 mg/dl [4] (normal 190 - 860 mg/dl).

In addition the extent of the damage can be made clear by means of a special test by which the amount of body protein being lost through the intestine can be measured. This was made clear in the final report dated 6.5.84 of the university hospital in G where Raimund was an inpatient. The chrome-51-albumin test showed that Raimund lost 52% of the intravenously introduced Chrome-51 marked albumin within four days. [5] Normal value is under 1%! Without therapy Raimund would no longer be able to stay alive, as a result of the loss of protein in the intestine. During his stay in hospital the child received protein through infusions, but in the longer term the only real therapy is a special diet.

This extreme and lifelong diet was impossible for Frau S. to follow rigorously as a mother. As early as 14 days after his release from hospital, out of pity for her child who was no longer showing any symptoms of the disease, she started bit by bit to replace the diet with forbidden foods. Since Raimund tolerated this normal food well, in spite of the predictions of the doctors, she fed him entirely normal foods from the end of 1984, although she never mentioned this to the doctors at the regular check-ups. Since she attended the outpatient appointments for the subsequent check-ups without exception, the values of the blood protein and the immunoglobulin can be followed very clearly over almost two years.

From 12.3 - 5.4.84 Raimund was in the hospital in K. and transferred on 5.4. to the university hospital in G. There he remained as an inpatient until 27.4.84. The first outpatient check-up was on 8.6.84, followed by appointments on 19.10., 28.11.84, on 20.2., 27.6., 25.11.1985 and on 29.1.87.

In April 1984 the friend of Frau S. started to take in the healing energy for Raimund according to the teaching of Bruno Groening. The initial increase in protein and immune values can be medically explained by the substitution in the hospital, and the lack of loss resulting from the strict diet. In the following outpatient check-ups, however, following the release from hospital at the end of April 1984, a further deterioration of the blood protein concentration would have been expected to result from the normal diet, since the morphological changes to the lymphatic system would again have come into play. From the medical standpoint, at the latest at the check-ups after 1984, this would have definitely been expected to make itself apparent. But the protein levels remained in the normal range up until the last control test in 1987. On 29.1.87, following more than two years of eating normally, a completely normal value of total protein of 7.4 g/dl (normal 7-8 g/dl), with an unexceptional electrophorese (72% Albumin) and normal immunoglobulin (igG 642 mg/dl).[6]

On 06.05.1984 the treating doctor at the university hospital, Prof.Dr.G wrote in a medical statement for Raimund's parents:

"In the case of the above named child there exists a condition for which [...] a lifelong diet will have to be followed. As this food is significantly dearer than normal food, a heavy additional financial burden will arise for the parents of this child..." [7]

At the last outpatient check-up in January 1987, the treating doctor of the children's hospital, Prof.Dr.G expressed himself in a closing statement to the Dr.O a paediatrician who would be subsequently responsible for the child patient:

"The progress continues to be gratifying. Although the diet has not been rigorously adhered to, this has not led to loss of immunoglobulin or lymphocytes. It would naturally be of great interest to have another look at the mucous membrane of the intestine..." [8]

Up until today (1996) Raimund has suffered no further syptoms, clear evidence for the lasting healing of the child.

This healing is particularly worthy of note, in that neither mother nor child were aware of the fact that the acquaintance was taking on the healing energy for them. It therefore rules out the possibility of suggestive influence. In addition this was a case of a congenital organic disorder, far removed from any form of psychogenic cause.
