Healing of Chronic Polyarthritis [1]

I was first troubled by pain in the ankles early in 1988. This disappeared after reverting to wearing open shoes.

During my pregnancy in spring 1988 the pain appeared anew in my hand and knee joints. At the end of September I additionally had pain in the neck, fingers, knees and wrists, and some time later swelling of the joints became noticeable. I was prescribed medication in the form of Diclofenac 50mg, then Protaxon, which purely served to provide relief from the symptoms. I was medically diagnosed as having rheumatism (chronic polyarthritis).

It was proposed that a gold treatment be carried out. Since this treatment is accompanied by severe side effects, I twice cancelled the appointments. They wanted to put me into hospital for three weeks immediately, which I also refused. And the problem got continually worse.

From January 1989 I could no longer lay my hand flat on a table, and had difficulty lifting objects, hanging out washing, putting up nets, and by bending. To get something out of one of the base units of my kitchen cupboards caused me great efforts, since that required bending down. Neither could I do any cleaning any more. Walking any distance was difficult. I tired quickly. Even shopping was too much for me.

I had developed lumps on the elbows. My doctor told me in February, that I must do something to combat the rheumatism, otherwise I wouldn't be able to look after my five children in the near future.

Mid April 1989 my fingers, which had been badly swollen since October 1988 were suddenly thin, and I was able to carry out some of my duties better. All of a sudden I was cable to lay my outstretched hand flat on the table. During a visit to Frau S., my neighbour, I discovered that, together with her husband, she had since 9th April 1989 "tuned in" to a healing energy for me, according to the teachings of Bruno Groening. I was deeply struck, that the healing energy, the healing stream, had produced the sudden disappearance of the swelling of my fingers, before I even knew anything about it, and requested that I be given an introduction into Bruno Groening's teachings. On April 21st, in an introductory lecture, I discovered how I could take on the healing energy for myself, which I have done regularly ever since.

Somewhat later I suddenly experienced a severe reaction. My hands and feet were very swollen, red and burnt like fire. I could hardly walk, and had to literally drag my feet across the floor. I spent a lot of time lying down, and needed to sleep a lot during this time. But the strong pains in my joints quickly susided, and the swellings went down.

In July things began a steady improvement. I was once again able to make a fist, my fingers from the middle of April 1089 were no longer swollen, and the strength steadily returned to my hands. I have been able to take over more and more of the housework. Whereas at first I had to be satisfied with hanging washing on a small stand, I am now able to hang out my washing on the washing line.

I went for walks with my children again, and could spend one and a half hours standing up and ironing, without a break. The lumps on the elbows have disappeared. I can again unscrew the caps from bottles, and open a can with a can opener, which was impossible earlier. I am also able to bend down. After six months I was able for the first time again to spring-clean my home.

Now more than seven years have passed. I can still do all my housework full of energy. I have had no recurrence of the rheumatism. I require no medication any more, and I can again be an active mother for my five children.

Physician's Comment:

The cause of Chronic Polyarthritis (CP) is unknown but is possibly due to immune deficiency. The disease expresses itself above all through inflammation of the joints of the extremeties. It is most often observed that it affects the patient symmetrically.

Chronic inflammation, over a longer period, leads to progressive damage of the joints, which in its latter phase can be characterized by a permanent stiffening and destruction of the joints. In some 70 % of all cases, the onset of CP is observed to occur between the third and seventh decade of life. Women are three times as vulnerable as men.

In the case of Frau M. the symptoms of Rheumatism first appeared at the beginning of the third decade of life. A painful reduction of mobility, with swelling of the finger joints (proximal interphalangeal- and metakarpophalangeal joints of both hands) and the knee joints arose. Typically, the symptoms occurred symmetrically, with both left and right knee and finger joints affected. As the disease progressed further joints were affected. Thereby, pain and an inflamed swelling of the toes and ankle joints occurred. Typical also was the noticable morning stifness in the joints, which led to her being more acutely aware of the symptoms at the start of the day.

The pain and swelling were due to the inflamation of the affected joints.

Early in 1989 clear signs of the destructive progress of the disease occurred, alongside the pain and the swelling, in the form of the start of stiffening of the finger joints. Frau M. could no longer spread her hand flat on the table.

Additionally rheumatic nodes were noticeable in the area of the elbows and coccyx. It is supposed that these occur through, among other causes, the inflamation of small blood vessels (vasculitis). The lumps occur mostly subcutaneously by pressure points such as the elbows, back of the head and coccyx.

In Frau M.'s case the use of medications aimed at reducing the inflammation were only able to produce a slight easing of the symptoms, without inhibiting the further progress of the disease. Therefore, early in 1989 the doctors recommended a treatment with gold salts, in the hope that they could halt the progressive attacks of the disease, or to reduce the frequency of the attacks. Gold salts are able to reduce the activity of the disease in some cases, and thereby achieve an improvement. Unfortunately side effects such as inflammation of the skin, and mucous membrane of the mouth (dermatitis, stomatitis) kidney damage (membranous glomerulonephritis) can arise, and can even lead to nephrotic syndrome or to kidney defficiency, and to damage of the bone marrow (aplastische anaemia, agranulosytosis and/or thrombosytopenia) .

Frau M. refused this treatment on account of the serious side effects, accepting the probability of a further deterioration due to the progress of the disease.

In 1989 the intern treating her described the disease as:

"primary chronic polyarthritis which has taken a serious course, with swelling and deformation of the joints.". [2]

He said further:

"The proof of this disease was established by means of the overwhelming weight of clinical evidence, and by laboratory tests." [3]

The sudden subsiding of the inflamed and swollen finger joints in April 1989, occurring without any alteration to the treatment which was being undertaken, can be described as coincidental remission. However, the incidence of the taking up of the healing energy by the family S. at precisely this time should be serious food for thought. Frau M. acknowledged during a discussion with her neighbours to clarify the matter, the phenomenon of remote healing due to the healing energy, and gained new hope in her otherwise hopeless situation.

That the body also showed a reaction after the taking on this healing energy is also typical. An uninvolved observer might be inclined to see in this a renewed attack of the disease, rather than a part of the process of healing. It is a fact, however, that in the healing of the most various of diseases this type of reaction can be observed, following which, in the majority of cases, healing occurs.

The further clinical progress speaks for itself. After Frau M. had overcome the initial reaction, the symptoms continuously diminished without the further use of medication. During the following seven years of observations there has been no relapse.

The witness of her husband to these events is impressive:

Herewith, I, Raimund M., give testimony to the following:

"In 1988 my wife became ill with rheumatism. It occurred in an extreme form. She complained that the pain grew worse daily. The fingers swelled up, she developed swollen feet, swollen hands and joints, real lumps on the elbows. She was unable to move her head freely, and even chewing was painful.

It was impossible for her to do housework. My mother-in-law came during the week, at the weekend I looked after the household as far as was possible. Although she was taking strong medication to combat the rheumatism, the pain grew ever stronger.

In April she went to the Bruno Groening circle of friends. She stopped the medication. In the course of the month she noticeably improved. Today, after almost three years, she is able to manage the household completely without help. She is free of pain and is happy again ."[4]

On 23.01.96 the Intern who was responsible for her expressed himself in a written statement to concerning the events in the following:

"I am the family doctor of Frau M., responsible for her case. In 1988 rheumatoid arthritis arose, with severe symptoms. Frau M. was, at this time, ill in that she had reduced mobility, all major joints were painfully swollen and immobile, and the knuckles and ankles were also affected.

This condition healed spontaneously at that time, without the prescription of anti-rheumatic medication from me.

Laboratory tests in 1994 and 1996 revealed negative rheumatic values, and in both instances no evidence of the incidence of inflammation. A relapse of the RA since 1988 has not occurred."[5]
