"Bruno Groening - an unusual man"

In 1949 the name Bruno Groening appeared overnight in the public spotlight. The press, radio and newsreel reported about him. For months the activities of the "miracle doctor," as he was soon called, kept the young Republic in suspense. A motion picture was made, scientific study commissions were called into being and authorities up to the highest levels concerned themselves with the case of Bruno Groening.

The Social Minister of North-Rhine Westphalia had Bruno Groening prosecuted for violation of the Healing Practitioner’s Law, while the Bavarian Prime Minister declared that one should not allow such an "exceptional phenomenon" as Groening be done in by petty regulations. The Bavarian Ministry of the Interior referred to his activity as "an unrestrained activity of love".

There was fierce and contentious discussion of the case on all levels of society. The emotional waves ran high. Clergymen, doctors, journalists, lawyers, politicians and psychologists all talked of Bruno Groening. For some his miraculous healings were the gift of grace from a higher power, while for others it was charlatanism. Yet the authenticity of the healings was proven by medical investigation.

Bruno Groening was born in Danzig in 1906 and emigrated to West Germany as a refugee after the war. He was a common labourer who lived from many different occupations - as a carpenter, a factory and dock worker, a telegram deliveryman and an installer of electrical wiring. Then suddenly he stood in the centre of public interest. The news of his miraculous healings spread all over the world. Sick people, letters of petition and offers came from all countries. Tens of thousands of seekers of healing flocked to his places of activity. A revolution in medicine had begun.

However, there were also powers of opposition. Influential physicians, church officials, lawyers and former colleagues tried everything to stop the work of Bruno Groening. Prohibitions to heal were issued and he was taken to court. All his efforts to bring order into his activity failed, on the one hand because of the opposition of influential social forces, on the other because of the incompetence or lust for profit of his helpers. When Bruno Groening died in Paris in 1959 the final trial against him was in full swing. The trial was stopped, and a final judgement was never reached. Still, many questions remain open.

The teachings of Bruno Groening

The teachings of Bruno Groening assume the influence of spiritual forces on man. The influence of these forces is greater than most people think.

Bruno Groening compares the human being to a battery. In daily life everyone expends energy. However the new life energy required is often not sufficiently absorbed. Just as an empty battery is incapable of functioning, a powerless body cannot fulfil its task. Fatigue, nervousness, anxiety and, finally, illness are the result.

Bruno Groening explained how the individual person can obtain new energy. Belief in the good is just as much a prerequisite here as is the will to be healthy. Human beings are surrounded everywhere by healing waves, and all they have to do is absorb them. According to Bruno Groening there is no such thing an an incurable illness, and this is confirmed by the medically verified Success Reports. These healings occur through the spirit alone and are therefore not dependent on Bruno Groening’s physical body.

To take up this Healing Stream the seeker of help sits with hands open and withd arms and legs uncrossed in order not to interfere with the flow of the Healing Stream. Thoughts about illness and worry have an obstructive effect, while thoughts about beautiful things, on the other hand, are helpful.

When the Healing Stream flows through the body it comes across the organs afflicted by illness and starts its purifying effect there. In the process pain can occur, a sign of the purification of the body. Since the illness is by nature something unwanted by God it will be gradually eliminated. In some cases this can occur spontaneously. Here it is necessary for the person to no longer think of the illness, but rather believe that for God there is no "incurable".

In order to continue being healthy the Bruno Groening Friends tune in daily to the Healing Stream. A healthy body provides the foundation for a life in harmony with itself, one’s fellow man and nature.

It is the goal of the teachings of Bruno Groening to transform a sick person into a happy human being free from physical and emotional afflictions.

The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends

The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends continues the work of Bruno Groening. The people meeting together in it are either seeking healing today through the teachings of Bruno Groening or have already obtained it.

The Director of the Circle of Friends is Grete Häusler. She met Bruno Groening in August 1950 and at that first meeting was healed from three "incurable" afflictions. In the years that followed she often met with Bruno Groening, worked at his side and worked to bring his teachings to people seeking help. These efforts led her in 1979 to found the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends.

Today there are many hundreds of local Communities in Germany, its neighbouring European countries and, increasingly, also worldwide. Many tens of thousands of Friends meet as a rule at three week intervals in "Community Hours". The Leaders of the Community Hours and their helpers meet in Work Circles to discuss upcoming tasks and to coordinate their work. The active Friends work independently on their own tasks. All work is done on a voluntary and unpaid basis.

In addition to the local Communities for adults, youth and children, special Communities have also arisen worldwide that deal with such things as coordination of individual Friends in different languages and the alleviation of drug addiction. For Friends in medically-related professions there is the Medical Science Group (MWF).

Membership in the Circle of Friends is independent of ties to churches or other religious or ideological groups. There are no financial or legal obligations. The work of Bruno Groening is financed exclusively on the basis of voluntary donations. In accordance with Bruno Groening’s example the Circle of Friends provides no diagnosis, therapy, examinations or treatment. It neither advises against nor recommends visits to doctors. Each healing is a gift and thus the grace of God. Therefore a promise of healing is impossible and not given in the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends.

Youth in the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends

The purpose of the gatherings is first of all the transmission of the teachings of Bruno Groening, which show people among other things how to take up the healing power (divine force) into oneself.

A further end is the recognition of the effects of one’s own thinking, speaking and actions on his own health and well-being as well as on that of his environment.

Some of the special concerns of the Youth Communities are:

  • Losing fear of school
  • Dealing with faith, especially faith in God, in a natural way
  • The importance and significance of one’s own feelings in contrast to the general superficiality
  • Respect and consideration in relationships

The theme of drugs is also important and is the focal point in the "Communities for those most in need of help".

The difference from other groups such as self-help groups is that no feeling of solidarity or of "being understood" is supposed to be engendered through a search for common problems and the continual concern with them. The relevant subjects are discussed in order to strengthen people’s belief in their own healing and point to a possible way out.

Drug-free through the teachings of Bruno Groening - an alternative path away from drug-addiction

Different from all contemporary self-help groups or therapeutic offerings, the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends has begun in recent years to take up the cause of drug addicts as well. The help is directed toward all kinds of addiction. Therapists and their patients and relatives alike are addressed.

Everything began with the commitment of Ms. Rüther. In 1985 she was the first person to become free from drugs such as heroin, cocaine, Captagon, etc., in this way. She describes her personal path away from drugs in the book, "My way over the abyss". Petra Rüther has been drug-free since 1985. In 1993 she began to approach addicts directly on the street. Through this pioneer work "Communities of those most in need of help" in which addicts come together to absorb power and calmness have arisen in several cities in Germany and neighbouring countries. Since then help and healing in this area continue to occur.

Physicians confirm how successful spiritual healing can be, even in the area of addictive illnesses. The leaders of these Communities work together closely with the Medical Science Group (MWF) of the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends, in which the healings are recorded in the form of  "Success Reports" and, when possible, scientifically documented.

Bruno Groening pointed out that there is a healing force which he called the "Healing Stream".^He explained to help-seekers how to acquire help and healing through conscious absorption of this force. Up to his death in 1959 thousands of healings occurred during his lectures. Grete Häusler observed and experienced that help and healing continued to occur even after his death. Therefore she founded the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends in order to pass on the knowledge of the working of this healing force. People meet together in local "Communities", absorb the force together and learn more about the teachings of Bruno Groening, If you are interested in learning more about the teachings and the Circle of Friends or want to take part in such a "Community Hour" yourself, then you can contact the address below. You will then be invited to an introductory lecture in your area on the teachings of Bruno Groening that is without cost or obligation. There are now Bruno Groening Communities in many countries.
