"The key to the health of tomorrow? The power of belief"
A physicians' group scientifically investigates spiritual healing and records many reports of healing, also of so-called "incurable" illnesses.
People have prayed from the earliest times. Recent investigations (such as, for example, those carried out by the American Medical Association in the U.S.A.) confirm again that prayer has a positive effect on the healing process.
"True science and true religion are one," a great thinker once said. Man cannot be separated into body and soul. The two are deeply interwoven. The significance of a person's mental-spiritual attitude for the health of his body is becoming ever more apparent through psychosomatic medicine and the findings of a new sub-discipline of medicine, "psychoneuroimmunology". Nevertheless, these fundamental relationships are all too often ignored and patients are killed by diagnoses and baneful predictions concerning the course of illnesses. However, the signs of a new era requiring a different way of thinking are appearing more and more frequently.
A different way of healing
In the spring of 1949 Bruno Groening became known to the public through the healing of a nine-year-old boy who had suffered for years from progressive muscular dystrophy (muscle wasting) and had already been bedridden for some time. Countless people were healed from then on through the lectures that Bruno Groening held in Germany and Austria up until his death; healings even took place with illnesses that had been declared "incurable" by physicians. He spoke of a force that can give people help and healing - the "divine force" or "Healing Stream."
How can this force be absorbed?
Bruno Groening's teachings assume the influence of spiritual forces on human beings. The influence of these forces is greater than realized by most people. Groening compares the human being to a battery. In daily life everyone uses up energy. However, the new energy required is often not obtained again in sufficient quantities. Just as an empty battery cannot function, a powerless body cannot fulfill its tasks. Exhaustion, nervousness, fear of life and, finally, illness are the result.
In his lectures, Bruno Groening explained how a person can obtain new energy. Belief in the good and the will to recover are equally important prerequisites. According to Groening's teachings, man is surrounded by healing waves that he also called the "Healing Stream" or "divine force." A person seeking help has to absorb them. According to Groening there is no incurable illness, and the medically verified healing reports in the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends also confirm this. The healing is spiritual and is not dependent on Groening's material body.
In order to absorb this Healing Stream ("tune in" to it) the seeker of help sits with palms up, and with arms unfolded and legs uncrossed in order to avoid blocking the flow of the Healing Stream. When the Healing Stream flows through the body it may encounter stressed organs and begin to work on them. Bruno Groening compares the healing process with a kind of internal cleansing of the body. Through absorption of the Healing Stream - the divine energy - the illness can be spiritually removed. In some cases this even happens spontaneously. It is helpful to continue to tune in to reception of the divine energy on a daily basis. A healthy body builds the foundation for a life in harmony with itself, others and nature.
Bruno Groening said, "There is no such thing as 'incurable'." Paracelsus had earlier said that every illness is curable, but not every person. If the person himself doesn't believe in his healing, even the best physician
can't help him. This is also true of spiritual healing. The healing is a gift from God. The person can contribute to his healing by regularly absorbing the Healing Stream according to the teachings of Bruno Groening and by following the spiritual laws. According to these teachings it is important for the person making a request of God to separate himself from everything bad in his life, open himself up to the divine energy and believe firmly in the good.
How the spirit heals
Positive thinking is an important component of the teachings of Bruno Groening. He teaches that man is situated between two sources of energy: the negative, destructive source and the positive, constructive source. He has to decide between these two energies. Depending on his spiritual attitude, he opens himself up to one or the other. Negative thoughts bind man with the negative energy, which runs him down and makes him sick. Positive thoughts bind him with the good, the divine energy, which strengthens and heals him.
Spiritual healing requires that man change his way of thinking. The sick person tends to regard his illness with fear, and, although he wants to get rid of it, he binds himself to it in this way all the more. Bruno Groening said that whoever concerns himself with his illness holds firmly to it and thus hinders the flow of the Healing Stream. The most important step that the sick person must take is to mentally separate himself from the illness. When he thereafter inwardly switches to "reception" of the healing energy he can expect with complete trust that this healing energy will work in him.
"Trust and believe; the divine energy helps and heals," said Bruno Groening urgently to his audiences, and he explained that every person is in a position, as he said, "to tune in to the Healing Stream".
The sick person is here regarded as a mature individual, responsible for himself, and who is invited to open himself up to the healing energy.
The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends
The Director of the Circle of Friends is Grete Häusler. She met Bruno Groening in August 1950 and was healed during that first encounter from three illnesses that had been regarded as medically incurable. In the following years she worked closely with him and worked to pass his teachings on to people seeking help. This effort resulted in her calling the Bruno Groening
Circle of Friends into being in 1979.
At present there are several hundred local communities in Germany and neighboring European countries, and more and more worldwide. Tens of thousands of Friends usually meet at three-week intervals in community hours. Besides the local communities for adults, special communities have also arisen such as the worldwide support of individual Friends in various languages or special communities to provide a way out of drug addiction. For Friends in health care professions there is the Medical-Scientific Group (MWF).
Membership in the Circle of Friends is independent of membership in churches or other religious or philosophical groups. There are no financial or legal obligations. In accordance with Bruno Groening's example, there is no diagnosis, therapy, examination or treatment in the Circle of Friends.
Medication is neither recommended, prescribed, nor handed out. In the same way, no one is advised against visiting doctors, taking medication or undergoing therapies or surgery. According to Bruno Groening every healing is a gift of God. Therefore no promise of healing is given in the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends. All activities of the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends and the MWF are free of charge. It is registered as a non-profit corporation in Germany. All activities are financed through donations. The voluntary donations give the Circle of Friends complete independence, for it is neither dependent on sponsors or on advertising nor other income.
The Medical-Scientific Group (MWF) - how it all began
Matthias Kamp (41), a Hamburg physician, was interested at the end of the eighties in gaining more knowledge of alternate methods of healing and thus concerned himself with the subject of spiritual healing. At a meeting of the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends he learned how one can absorb a force that is supposed to be the "divine healing power". However, he quickly noticed that what was easy for children was for him as an intellectually-oriented adult at first difficult. But when he realized that this force, which is neither visible nor palpable, is not perceptible through the head, but through
feeling - through the heart - then he, too, was able to experience it. A pleasant, powerful streaming, a tingling all over his body gradually became perceptible. It was something that brought about a feeling of being strengthened and of happiness. He had never before experienced such a thing.
The Establishment of a physicians' group
Convinced through his own personal experience, Kamp and his colleagues began to examine the reported healings. This led to the foundation of the Medical-Scientific Group in 1992, with medical physicians and other health care professionals, which now includes over 6,000 physicians and other health care providers. In the year 2000 physicians and non-medical healing practitioners gave over 400 lectures in 60 countries, reporting on healing the spiritual way through the teachings of Bruno Groening. In the meantime, the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends counts worldwide as one of the largest associations for spiritual healing. However, the physicians are not only active giving international lectures. Their second task is the collecting, proving, medical documentation, and scientific evaluation of occurring healings.
The systematic reporting of success reports
The written recording of healings in the form of success reports is proving more and more to be the indispensable foundation of the entire work of the MWF. It is a special task to restore trust and faith in good health in a human being who has given up after decades of a chronic illness and many failed attempts to find healing.
A Success Report is a great help when an illness of this kind comes to an end. The value of a person's faith is often underestimated. It is irresponsible to take away all hope from patients, even in the case of severe illnesses. Nothing paralyses the effect of the healing forces more than when the person himself gives up.
One can neither deny nor promise the possibility of healing. It is always only a "can". Statistical data on the probability of healing are understandably impossible, since such surveys cannot be carried out. The time periods after which healings are reported vary too greatly.
Thus, spontaneous healings are observed, others occur after people have waited weeks or months. In one case an illness will disappear immediately, in another only after years, and in still others no healing will be experienced. Healing is more than the effect of an energy. As important as scientifically-based research in this area may be, the "why" of healing or non-healing is in most cases only accessible to a spiritual, intuitive, higher recognition. After all, man cannot be the "doer" here; the gift he healing lies in the hands of the Creator.
Documented healings
The Success Report is recorded on the example of the clinical case history, with detailed description of the condition before absorption of the healing force, the time of contact with the teachings of Bruno Groening and the course of the healing. The content of the recorded reports is inspected by both medical and non-medical authorities. In a separate working group a summary is made and, in so far as possible, documentation of medical findings and witness reports is initiated. A central working group in Hamburg carries out the archiving of all reports. With some reports an additional short, easily understood medical commentary is appended in order to clarify the sequence of events from a medical point of view.
Development of the Circle of Friends
An ever increasing number of help-seekers and other interested people are being attracted by both the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends and the Medical-Scientific Group (MWF) (see
graph).
Spectacular healings (one can read 200 short Success Reports on the homepage of the Circle under www. bruno-groening.org) and articles in periodicals and newspapers worldwide as well as on the Internet contribute to this trend.
The physicians of the MWF hold lectures to inform their colleagues and other interested persons about spiritual healing and encourage them to take it seriously. During these lectures medically verified healings are introduced and explained in easily understandable terms. Healed persons tell of their experiences. A brief description of the life of Bruno Groening, the Circle of Friends and the MWF is provided. An overview of the spiritual
laws - known since early times - which govern the effect of this healing force is given. In conclusion, the audience has an opportunity to experience this force themselves.
Dr. G. Blättner, physician, Director of the Medical-Scientific Group (MWF)
"The task of the lectures is not to disseminate a new healing method or found a new religion. In the Medical-Scientific Group there are physicians from all religions. This power knows no
'Catholic' or 'Protestant' and makes no difference between Christians, Jews, Moslems and Buddhists. It is simply a matter of introducing this divine healing force to interested people and people in the healing professions and informing them of how beneficial it is to consciously bring oneself into contact with it."
Often people in the audience tell of spontaneous healings at the end of lectures. At most of the events the rooms are overcrowded. In Paris in March 2001 more than 400 people pushed their way into the room and many found no seat. Some of these lectures took place in medical schools, as was the case in the U.S.A., Canada, India and various European countries. People work in the MWF without pay in an effort to pass on valuable and objective information on spiritual healing. The MWF is internationally recognized, especially by health organizations, and shows people seeking help a possibility for healing that should be taken seriously.
Here is an excerpt from an interview that Dr. Blättner recently gave to a journalist:
In the year 2000 we began holding lectures at large universities in Germany and neighboring countries. In some cases more than 800 people attended, among them physicians and healing practitioners. In the year 2000 around 20,000 people worldwide attended the lectures. In Eastern Europe and Asia universities Fehler! Keine gültige Verknüpfung. opened their doors to these lectures on an official basis. The University of Arizona Medical School in the U.S.A. invited physicians and other interested persons to the MWF lectures as part of the MWF lecture trip in the USA and Canada in October 2001. I believe that personal ideological conflicts can no longer be important when it is a matter of helping people. That is what is required today. To do this, one has to make use of everything good, whether it be naturopathy, traditional medicine or spiritual healing.
