In our edition of Tuesday, August 8 (page 6), we reported in an initial article on the life and work of the healer, Bruno Groening. Today we present the second part, dealing with the "Medical-Science Group."

Franz Burgert

The "Medical-Science Group” (MWF) was called to life in 1992 by the Hamburg Physician, Matthias Kamp. It is probably the only institution in the world that collects and registers scientifically conclusive documentation of healings of people, who, according to the understanding of traditional medicine, were considered "incurable." Meanwhile, several thousand MWF medical professionals around the globe contribute to the recognition and expansion of this healing method. This breathtaking development is related to the work of an extremely capable and unassuming man, Bruno Groening, who in 1949 attracted worldwide attention with mass healings unparalleled in history. As a result, however, he was hindered by a series of prohibitions from passing on his powerful healing energies, and therefore inwardly burned to death ten years later.

A flashback: In the year 1950, a young Austrian woman was healed from three severe, "incurable" illnesses at the same time during an introductory lecture of Bruno Groening in Munich--Grete Häusler. Back in her home town of St. Veit, she experienced how people to whom she reported on her healing and the method were also spiritually healed. Thereafter many joined together in the first local Communities.

In the following nine years, Grete Häusler had the opportunity time and again to get to know the true nature and intention of this incomparable man. As early as 1952, as her guest, he once granted her a glimpse into the time after his death: "I will not be dead. If someone calls me, I will be there for him, and I will go on helping. But then everyone will experience help and healing from within himself."

After 1959, there were at first several organizations which attempted to continue with his work, but they fell apart. However, Grete Häusler did not give up her efforts. Twenty years after his death, she finally called her own Circle of Friends to life. But despite her tremendous personal engagement, things progressed only very slowly. Only after 30 years of hard struggle, in the year 1989, there began an increasingly rapid growth of the Groening undertaking. The healings increased. The assistants were there. The time had arrived.

Today, tens of thousands have come together in many hundreds of local Communities of the "Bruno Groening Circle of Friends." For the individual, who must fend for himself alone, it may not always be easy to put the teachings into practice. For this reason, the Communities perform important functions. Here, introductions are given and experience reports exchanged. Here, in the group, the healing power is especially easy to absorb. And here, new information materials are regularly distributed. Free of cost. The meetings usually take place every three weeks.

In the Circle of Friends there are no examinations, diagnoses or treatments. At the same time, no one is dissuaded from visits to the doctor, medication or therapy, but rather it is a matter of learning to be able to more easily absorb the divine Healing Stream.

In addition, one must know that with most of the healings there are so-called "regulations," which differ from one individual to another and cause bodily cleansing and an inner change.

The Circle of Friends is supported exclusively from voluntary donations and unpaid assistance. Membership is independent of nationality or skin color, independent from church, religious or ideological connections. One can leave the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends at his own discretion, for there are neither financial nor legal ties of any kind.

The Medical-Science Group

At the two universities where Matthias Kamp received his training, none of his professors ever mentioned a "Healing Current," although the great fathers of medicine - Paracelsus, Hahnemann and others - indeed knew of it: the unexplored Vis Vitalis, the life power and actual foundation of our existence.

Shortly before his First State Examination on December 8, 1984 the medical student Kamp stood before an inconspicuous poster: "There is no "incurable"--God is the greatest doctor!" He couldn´t stop thinking about this statement, so he turned up the next day at the Christmas celebration of the Circle of Friends in order to get to the bottom of this outrageous matter. A small group, pleasant atmosphere--but no sign of a "Healing Current."

At home in the student digs, with calm music--still nothing! It took weeks before he realized that one must open his heart in order to feel that which is not visible, yet available. But suddenly it was there- the "tingling," a wonderful, invigorating feeling and sense of happiness. Was that the Healing Current?

Two years later, the answer was final: Matthias Kamp had long since witnessed inexplicable healings and irrefutable findings with no "ifs" or "buts." Together with a colleague, he began to record the first Success Reports. And seven years thereafter, in 1993, his first book appeared, "Bruno Groening - Revolution in Medicine."

If 30 doctors and non-medical practitioners identified themselves as being in support of the cause the previous year at the founding of the "Medical-Science Group, today it is over 4000 who participate in the MWF and pave the way for the spiritual method of healing in further publications and regular physicians´ conferences.

On May 20, 2000 the international MWF specialist lecture (to which 7000 medical professionals were invited) was held in the Auditorium Maximum of the Free University. After all, the largest lecture hall in Berlin!

The next MWF specialist lecture in Switzerland takes place, by the way, on October 21 (2 p.m.) in the Kunsthaus in Zürich.

The MWF-Archives

The critical examination and written documentation of occurrences of spiritual healing in all their diversity represents the indispensable basis of the desired change of consciousness. And this is for the individual hoping for healing, as well as for a society still very much dominated by mechanistic thinking, and which understandably demands solid proof where assured theoretical foundations are still in no way present. And this task is at the same time the indispensable foundation for the long-term existence of the Groening work and of the Circle of Friends itself.

Nothing paralyses the natural self-healing powers more than when a patient gives up. Only too often it proves to be hopeless to try to instill trust and faith in the possibility of his own recovery in a person who has resigned after decades of chronic suffering and futile therapeutic efforts. An incontestable Success Report (see box) can literally work wonders.

It is fortunate that applications of spiritual healing are also becoming more and more accepted by the scientific establishment. Thus, for example, Lisa Laurenz of Radio Hessen quoted in her recent report on spontaneous remissions the cultural anthropologist Hiroshi Oda. In a broadly designed study on successful cancer healing, he came up with three typical coping strategies: 1) a positive defense, e.g., through natural healing methods and optimism, 2) trust in God´s grace, of which it is known that nothing is impossible, and 3) self transformation through a going-into-oneself to the deeper causes of the illness, in which the bodily healing is perhaps only perceived as a confirming by-product of the actual, inportant personal change.

Decisive is the meaning that one acquires from the illness, says Hiroshi Oda, and this corresponds to the inner source of power. The systematic exploration of these possibilities has only just begun.

According to Rolf Verres, professor of medical psychology at the University of Heidelberg, the decisive thing for miracle healing is an attitude which is open and ready, but at the same time calm, expecting nothing. He is correct here: many a sick person has gone on a pilgrimage to Lourdes to pray for a friend no longer capable of travel . . . and is himself healed in the process!

But for many patients, the meaningful linking of the three strategies could be decisive: to behave in a manner as healthful and optimistic as possible, while at the same time also seriously concerning oneself with the matter of God and keeping an eye on one´s development and change. That would certainly be to Bruno Groening´s liking; he once said, "Healing makes up only about 5% of the whole!"

An extremely broad basis for the understanding of processes of spiritual healing is conveyed by the book, "The Message of Miracles: When Faith Moves Mountains," by Ute York (Droemer, 1997), which is as insightful as it is entertainingly written. But as enriching at it may be, one seeks in vain therein anything that could be put alongside the MWF-Archives material.

The MWF-Archives prove conclusively that also purely organic, even degenerative illnesses can be healed the spiritual way. To deny this or explain it as the result of mere suggestion is no longer tenable in the face of the abundance of material present here. It is an impressive proof of transcendental intervention.

A Closer Examination

Diagram of the development of a MWF Success Report

At first the Success Report (SR) is recorded on the spot in a personal conversation with a trained SR leader, then sent the SR instructor, the responsible person on the regional level, for an initial check. He checks whether all necessary information (such as diagnosis, progress, medication, etc.) is present in the report, and gives it to a cooperating physician of the SR center. There, a further preliminary check (PC) ensues. Possible questions from both of these agencies are then sent back to the local assistant. After answers are provided and integrated into the text, the report is submitted for a follow-up check (FC) and finally sent on to Matthias Kamp in the MWF center for the final check.

Parallel to this process, the documentation is initiated (systematically since 1998) through witness reports and medical findings, and the healed person is advised on how to go about getting a follow-up examination from independent medical specialists. In addition, they are of course asked to provide information on doctors and hospitals previously visited, for purposes of requesting the medical-scientific documents of proof. Finally, an additional abstract (AB) is made, which goes to the MWF-Archives along with the detailed report and the documents of proof.
